Oregon Jigsaw Puzzles

Yes! Oregon jigsaw puzzles!

We've finally been able to combine our passion of jigsaw puzzles with our love of art and photography to come up with our own line of boutique jigsaw puzzles.

100% made here in Bend, Oregon in our little shop, we not only have a nice line up of Oregon images for jigsaw puzzles, we also offer custom puzzles made with your own images.

How did this happen?

Well, our daughter, Cassie, owns the #1 (Voted by Clark County) printing company in Vancouver, Washington. 9 Cent Color Copies.

When the pandemic hit, since a lot of her business was printing the items needed for events, it got pretty quiet over there. One day we were brainstorming as to what we could do for her business that would be more sustainable in times like these. We both love jigsaw puzzles and happened to be doing one at the time. Somehow, right then, we both came down with “Puzzle Brain.” This is an affliction that makes you think of puzzles and how to make them.....ALL.THE. TIME. Especially between about 9pm and 7am.

A year later, after a lot of research and development, The Livingstone Puzzle Company was launched.

We are constantly adding to the Oregon jigsaw puzzle line up, so check back often.

How Are The Oregon Jigsaw Puzzles Made?

We begin making our Oregon jigsaw puzzles by painting the back of the chipboard bright colors.

We found that when you drop a piece with a chipboard gray back, on a beach wood floor, there's a lot of crawling around to try and find it. A bright colored back is MUCH easier!

The next step is that we glue the printed face on to the chipboard. We have a big hot glue machine that lays an even coat, then I roll it with a very nice rolling pin. (My arms are getting pretty nicely defined!)

Now the whole bit moves out to the shop where the large die cutter and cutting dies live.

The mounted picture gets loaded on the the die, and then run through the die cutter.

These are done one at a time. (These dies are VERY expensive, so we only have one of each size. Okay, we actually have two of the 500pc but the first we bought one all the pieces are the same shape. I found that I really did not enjoy THAT at all, so we designed our own shapes.

The Niagara Heights Waterwheel was the first puzzle we launched. You can read more about it here.

Our Oregon Jigsaw Puzzles For Sale

Our puzzles come in three sizes. 500pc 12x18", 100pc 11x14" large piece puzzles, (Great for people with eyesore or dexterity issues.) and 150pc 5x7" Tiny Tin travel puzzles.

The Niagara Waterwheel

For many years every time I drove across the pass from Central Oregon to the coast, I saw this red waterwheel. Every time I said “I need to stop sometime and photograph it.”

In late October of 2019, on our way to my brother’e surprise 50th birthday party, the fall color was too good to pass up and we stopped. I am so glad we did.

Around September 10, 2020 a wildfire decimate a whole section of the Sanitam Pass taking whole towns in it’s path, including Niaraga. The wheel itself, including it’s bright red paint, survived with minimal damage but nothing around it made it through, including the home of the owners.

A portion of the sales from the Niaraga Waterwheel puzzles are being donated back to it’s restoration.

The Old Gas Station

I’ve always loved this gas station. It was up on the Santiam Pass in Oregon. Last fall, it was lost in the fire. The same fire that took the waterwheel property.

Precious Memories Diner

There’s a very funny story about this image!

Ginger and Jerry were visiting her brother in Netarts.

They went in to Tillamook to grab some fishing gear. Ginger’s brother pointed at a restaurant, that shall remain nameless, and said,

“Let’s grab some lunch, that place is good.”

Well, it was not. Not at all. The service was so bad that we finally got up and left in frustration.

We ended up at this cute little diner (The Dutch Mill Cafe), which was WAY more fun, had GREAT food, and was right up my photographic alley!
